Hello and
welcome to the homepage of FIRST Robotics Team 2589, the Codebandits!
Our
website is here to provide people with helpful information and to share our
experiences while working with the FIRST Robotics program. Now, you may
be wondering what FIRST is. FIRST stands for ‘For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology’. FIRST was founded in 1989 by Dean Kamen
to help young people discover and explore the wonders of science and
technology.
The
competition we participate in is called the FRC, or the FIRST Robotics
Competition. It’s the high school-age league in which, every year,
FIRST sets up a new game where the teams must build robots according to
the challenge, including certain limitations. The teams’ goal is to get
their robots to function in such a way that points and what not can be earned at the competitions.
Our specific
team number in the FIRST registry is 2589. Our chosen name for our team is the Codebandits. We started our FIRST journey last season (the 2008
Overdrive challenge) and are now in the process of building our
second robot for the 2009 Lunacy challenge. It’s going to
be tough, but it will be well worth it in the end.
Good luck to
all the other teams! We hope to see you at the Boston Regionals in March.
