TEAM HISTORY The Codebandits were formed in 2007 as a school Robotics Club at Triton Regional High School lead by Mr. Ray Pike, a high school math and programming teacher. The club was small, and worked with just a single VEX robot at the time. A field trip to the Boston Regionals introduced everyone to the wonder of FIRST, and inspired Mr. Pike to begin researching the possibility of becoming part of such a great program. A grant from Analogic and private funding from Reeves Automation allowed the club to become Team 2589, and enter the 2008 "Overdrive" Challenge with FIRST. Our Rookie year was a great learning experience, and we had lots of fun (and a few meltdowns!) along the way. This season we have become Team 2589 Codebandits, and with the help of a NASA grant, have accepted the challenge of the "Lunacy" game. Once again we will make our appearance at the Boston Regionals in March, and hope to improve on last year’s performances and have fun along the way. Triton Robotics program is here to stay! THE FUTURE… This fall we expanded our program to include three teams of VEX robots to begin competing in WPI’s Savage Soccer Program. We hope to expand this portion of the Robotics program to allow more kids the opportunity to become actively involved in building and competing in the robot competitions. At present we are working on sponsoring a Savage Soccer competition at Triton in May, so keep checking back for more details as they are posted! |
